Course Overview: MEAL D-Pro Guide

MEAL D-Pro Guide is a foundational course designed to introduce professionals to the core concepts and practices of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) in development and humanitarian projects. The course guides learners through the full MEAL cycle — from designing logic models to using data for adaptive management and decision-making.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design MEAL systems, plan activities, collect and analyze data, and apply findings to improve project impact.

📘 Chapter Summaries

🔹 Chapter 1: MEAL in Projects

Key Concepts
This chapter introduces MEAL and its role in project success. You’ll learn the definitions of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning, and how they work together to support effective and responsive project management.

🔹 Chapter 2: Designing Logic Models

Theory of Change, Results Framework, Logframe/Indicators
Learn how to design the logical structure of your project using tools like Theory of Change and Logframes. Understand how to define goals, outcomes, outputs, and indicators to track progress effectively.

🔹 Chapter 3: Planning MEAL Activities

7 MEAL Planning Tools
Explore practical planning tools to ensure MEAL is integrated into the project lifecycle. This includes creating MEAL plans, indicator tracking tables, data collection schedules, and more.

🔹 Chapter 4: Collecting MEAL Data

Sampling, Collection Tools, Managing Data
Understand how to select samples, choose the right data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interviews), and manage your data securely and effectively to ensure quality and credibility.

🔹 Chapter 5: Analyzing MEAL Data

Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis
Learn how to analyze both numbers (quantitative) and stories or feedback (qualitative). This chapter introduces basic analysis methods to extract useful insights from MEAL data.

🔹 Chapter 6: Using MEAL Data

Adaptive Management, Reporting
Discover how to turn data into action. You’ll learn to use findings for reporting, decision-making, and improving project performance through adaptive management and learning loops.
